Privacy & data protection
convrt at convrt.ch is built so that image, audio, and video conversion and compression in your browser typically keep your files on your device: they are read in memory and processed with web APIs or WebAssembly, not uploaded for conversion. The YouTube download tool is different — it uses our servers; see below and our Cookies page for related storage and ads.
What convrt processes (converters & compress)
When you use the converter, files you select are read in your device memory and transformed using standard web APIs (for example Canvas and Blob). Output files are generated locally; you download them from your browser. Closing the tab or refreshing typically clears in-session data.
YouTube downloader & ads
The page at /youtube submits a video URLto convrt's backend so we can retrieve and transcode streams for you. That implies server-side processing and ordinary web server logs for those requests. To help pay for infrastructure, that page alone may show third-party advertisements (for example through Google AdSense). Other parts of the site are not used for that same ad placement. Technical detail on cookies and storage: Cookies.
Analytics & error reporting
We use PostHog for aggregate usage metrics and for exception / error reporting. Data is sent via first-party paths under /ingest/ on convrt.ch and then relayed to PostHog. Typical event data can include technical details such as page interactions, browser type, coarse performance data, and stack traces when an error is captured — not the binary contents of files you convert locally in-browser. See PostHog's privacy information for how they process data as our processor.
What may still be transmitted
Like any website, loading convrt involves requesting HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and fonts from our hosting infrastructure. Standard server and network logs (e.g. IP address, timestamp, requested path, user agent) may be created by the host or CDN for security and operations. That is separate from your file contents, which are not sent to us as part of the conversion workflow described above.
We do not use convrt to run account-based tracking for the tool itself; there is no login requirement for basic use.
